Spurs fans turned away at dome celebration

SAN ANTONIO - Alamodome leaders say despite the appearance of empty seats at Wednesday night's Spurs celebration, official numbers show the facility was full.

Spurs fans were turned away at the dome beginning about an hour before the start of the celebration.

Some believed there was still room inside the facility because thousands of empty seats were still visible even as fans were turned away.

A spokesperson for the Alamodome said Thursday morning the total number of fans inside the dome reached 76,483.

According to dome figures, that broke the record for the largest crowd ever at the Alamodome.

The previous record was George Strait's June 2013 concert which attracted 73,086 fans.
