NBA GMs set to pursue trade for Spurs' Kawhi Leonard
According to ESPN' Brian Windhorst, rival NBA team GMs are intent on chasing San Antonio Spurs' Kawhi Leonard amid the reported rift between him and the team.
While appearing on ESPN's "Outside The Lines," Windhorst said the following:
“I have already talked to several NBA general managers. At the end of this season, teams will call the Spurs and inquire about the availability of Kawhi Leonard.”
Keep in mind the Spurs are the only team to offer him the "Super Max" at $219 million. That is a lot to leave on the table for Kawhi should he consider taking his talents elsewhere by demanding a trade this offseason.
Leonard is considered one of the NBA's best players and keeping him on board would be in the Spurs' best interest moving forward.
There has been no timetable set for Kawhi's return if at all this season as he's been hobbled by a nagging right quad injury that has limited him to only nine games played this season.
