Reagan takes advantage of miscues in 2-0 win over Churchill in regional finals opener
SAN ANTONIO - Sophomore Travis Sthele helped score both runs in a 2-0 win for Reagan over Churchill in the Region IV-6A championship series on Thursday at Wolff Stadium.
With the game scoreless through three innings, Churchill tries to turn a double play, but can't get it, as Jarod Sherer to score on Sthele's fielder's choice to give Reagan a 1-0 in the fourth.
Sthele drove in another run in the sixth when his drive into right field was misplayed and Ben Sanchez scored from third to give all the run support that starter Cal Carver would need.
Carver allowed just four hits and struck out five to get the win.
Game 2 is set for 7:30 p.m. tonight at Wolff Stadium. Game 3, if necessary, will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wolff.
