The UTSA basketball team is on a run. Seven straight wins and a perfect 4-0 in Conference USA play, their hottest league start in three decades.

A lot of that has to do with the return of sophomore guard Jhivvan Jackson, named the Conference USA's player of the week.

"We give him a lot of freedom and a green light and he takes hard shots but he's taken a lot of strides moving the ball, he's defending better this year then he did a year ago I'm just proud of the steps he's taken, he's maturing and becoming a better basketball player," head coach Steven Henson said.

Jackson is averaging 22.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game since returning to the starting line-up in early December. The reigning C-USA freshman of the year had a season ending injury last February. He has since battled back hitting the game winner in their contest against North Texas.

"I've been taking those shots since I was a kid and for the coaches to give me that opportunity to do it I mean it was a blessing and then I actually went with it and it went in so the result was good but we're now focused on our next game at Middle Tennessee," Jackson said. "We're just trying to go over there and take a dub that way."The Roadrunners and Blue Raiders will tip-off from Murfreesboro, Tenn. at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
