Joy Burgin joins the morning team as your on-time traffic anchor!
Born and raised in San Antonio, Joy has a heart for her hometown. She attended Steubing Elementary - and can still recite their school song! After she was homeschooled in middle school -- she moved on to become a Brandeis Bronco. In 2018 she served as Miss Citizenship on the Miss Helotes Court, kicking off a long career of service in her community.
She attended UTSA and Northwest Vista College before graduating Summa Cum Laude from The University of the Incarnate Word with a bachelor's in communication. During her time there, she was named best on-air talent in the state of Texas two years in a row by the Lone Star Emmy Chapter NATAS Student Production category. She remained undefeated in this category at graduation - and in total brought home four Lone Star EMMY NATAS Student Production Awards. Under her leadership, the University's student-run news station, UIWtv, was named best station in the nation according to the Broadcast Education Association. It was during her last semester at UIW that she interned with News 4/Fox San Antonio -- and she's been serving multiple roles here ever since!
Joy has recently picked up figure skating as a way to stay active (and cool) -- and you can find her at the ice-skating rink multiple times a week. She also enjoys singing, drawing, and spending time with her very handsome husband. Her faith is the most important thing to her, and she credits all her success to God.
