Matt Roy is a reporter for Fox San Antonio.
Before coming to the Lone Star State, Matt was in the Land of Lincoln, working for two years at our SBG sister stations WICS/WRSP/WICD/KHQA as a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor. In Illinois' capital city of Springfield, Matt built a love for political and accountability reporting. He was the lead reporter for WICS's Project Illinois team, which dove deep into the states troubled unemployment system and uncovered inefficiencies that had been a problem for decades but were exposed because of COVID-19. His work was able to help hundreds of Illinoisans get their unemployment benefits when they could not get through to the state's department.
Matt went to Springfield after getting his Masters Degree in Sports Journalism from Arizona State's Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, which Matt calls the greatest journalism school in the nation (Forks Up!) Before that he was a scholarship football player at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO, getting his Bachelors degree in Journalism and multimedia studies.
Matt is engaged to his college sweetheart Jordan Elder, who is also a journalist, and they will be getting married this winter. The two of them met at ASU and got jobs at the same station in Springfield. They have a dog named Dexter, which Matt got in Durango, who is plastered all over the couples social media pages.
Matt is originally from Palm Desert, California. His favorite things to do are watch, read, listen, or talk about sports, as well as play golf. He says family is the most important thing to him, but golf and football are close seconds.

And please, call him Matt. Only his mom and sister call him Matthew... and it is usually when he is in trouble!
