Yami Virgin may not have been born in Texas, but she considers herself a transplanted San Antonian. Yami can regularly be seen knocking on doors, making calls and digging for the truth in her job as an investigative reporter for Fox San Antonio.
Yami was born in Panama City, Panama, and is proud to call herself an Army brat. She says it was that upbringing that taught her to accept others, and sparked the desire to find out more about people around her.
She got her start in broadcasting while taking classes at San Antonio College, after a program director at a local radio station heard her on the air. From there, Yami went on to UTSA where she majored in Political Science and minored in Communications. She worked on several political campaigns after graduation, but eventually the pull back to the news industry was too strong. She took a job with a local Telemundo station and began earning a reputation as a solid news reporter and producer.
In 2000, a family decision moved Yami to the land of the frozen tundra, "brats" and the Green Bay Packers. While in Milwaukee she reported for the CBS station and anchored and produced the news at Telemundo.
Yami holds 13 Associated Press awards, but she is quick to remind everyone that all were the result of a team effort.
When she's not at work, Yami enjoys traveling.
